Several thousand people turned out last Saturday to see and experience the new Lower Hutt Events Centre and refurbished Town Hall.
The day began with a karakia from kaumatua, Peter Jackson, speeches from local council, and an unveiling of a plaque.
Free entertainment and refreshments were experienced by all with local music, kapa haka, Japanese drumming, circus acrobats and dance groups performing.
