Located between Matamata and Cambridge, the lodge is convenient for delegates meeting from around Central North Island centres, plus it’s handy to Hobbiton and offsite venue The Red Barn.
Lakeview Lodge already sees steady demand from local businesses for meetings and retreats. Owners John and Joanne Leigh travel frequently and are clear about what they expect in terms of service and about the level of service they want to deliver to their clients.
‘We are farmers, we are practical people, and we just want things to work smoothly,’ says Joanne Leigh.
Accommodation consists of adjoining lodges, The Huntington sleeps 12 (two bedrooms with split king beds, a cabin room that sleeps eight) and The Hamptons (five bedrooms – four with split kings and one twin). Both have three bathrooms and a separate toilet.
The conference room can seat 15 in a U-shape configuration.
Both The Huntington and The Hamptons have fully equipped kitchens, but for those who don’t want to self cater, the lodge uses local caterer, Gourmet Delicious.
Located on a working farm, the lodge enjoys expansive views of Lake Karapiro (on the Waikato River) and the kind of rolling farmland that the Waikato is renown for.
Farm tours can be arranged for groups, as can offsite activities such as kayaking, mountain biking and tramping on nearby trails.
Lakeview Lodge has a five-star silver Qualmark rating, in the Boutique Lodges category, and has a helipad.
