It has now been converted into nine ‘flexible and contemporary’ conference spaces, with 91 heritage guest rooms and is a complete venue for conference groups. With accommodation, event space that opens up onto extensive lawns and gardens, the award-winning Joseph’s Restaurant & Bar, day spa, gym, 17-metre indoor pool, Library Room with a fireplace, sculpture walk and snooker room with Snooker Room with king pool table, once delegates arrive there is no reason for them to leave. Nearby activities within two kilometres include the Werribee Open Plains Zoo, Werribee Golf Course, the Victoria State Rose Garden and Shadowfax Winery.
The property can cater for six to more than 250 delegates and is fully self-contained for audio-visual and all conference needs. Meetings space includes an historic theatre building, pavilion and a ballroom. A marquee is also available. Rooms have lots of natural lighting and F&B packages are available.
Team-building options include Tai Chi, archery, clay target shooting, corporate challenges and an amazing race at the zoo.
More than a hippo or two
Werribee Open Range Zoo - just outside Melbourne, on the way to Geelong, has been around a long time, which may make you think it is a bit passé, but that would be a mistake as the facility has after-hours activities that make it a real contender for groups and incentives.
The Sunset Safari help Zoos Victoria support international conservation partners such a Rhino Fund Uganda. After general closing hours, the tour takes participants out onto the savannah for a sunset tour at a time when most of the animals are more active than during the hotter hours. The programme includes a dinner alongside the meerkats with a North African-inspired menu as well as a drums, song and dance performance highlighting the sounds of Africa.
Corporate bookings are now available for the 2019/20 season of Sunset Safari. Corporate bookings can be made either during the Saturday and Sunday events open to the general public, or as a private booking on any other night.
Slumber Safaris are the zoo's answer to glamping. They included a day of animal encounters, drinks and nibbles at sunset followed by a dinner feast, a night walk, and marshmallows around the campfire. Participants finish the evening with scones, before retiring to a luxury lodge, which can sleep up to five people. The Slumber Safari includes an
African-inspired dinner and buffet breakfast, fully hosted safari experience, animal encounter and exclusive animal viewing opportunities, and selected on-site discounts.
A range of corporate training workshops, team building experiences and animal encounters is also available.
