Two days were spent exploring Christchurch’s new vibrancy and seeing how the city is re-emerging as a leading business events destination. New conference infrastructure was on show including Christchurch Town Hall and Te Pae – Christchurch Convention Centre (opening October 2020) as well as a range of new or fully refurbished accommodation stock and heritage venues.
Hosted on a leadership educational programme by Tourism New Zealand’s business events team, the group also attended the Australasian Society of Association Executives (AuSAE’s) LINC conference in Napier before visiting Auckland.
“The conference provided a great programme of content relevant to the association market,” says Clair Hector-Taylor, convention bureau manager of ChristchurchNZ. “It was also an excellent opportunity for new connections to be made across New Zealand and Australian associations.”
