The certification acknowledges the company’s respectful, responsible and sustainable approach to whale watching.
‘Becoming one of the first operators in the world to be WCA certified is fantastic recognition for what we
are trying to achieve and reinforces our ongoing commitment to the conservation of the marine mammals of the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park,’ says business manager Brad Kirner.
To gain the certification, AWADS was audited against WCA Best Practice Guidance on various aspects of the company’s operations including their care for local wildlife, sustainability and customer experience offering, which was overseen by an international specialist panel.
WCA CEO Dylan Walker commended AWADS for their outstanding scientific programme and the interactive and educational standards of their tours.
