Waikato convenes in force

Thirteen operators from Hamilton and Waikato will attend Convene this year – four more exhibitors than the region represented last year.
Convene, which is taking place on 11 April at the Vodafone Events Centre in Auckland, will allow these businesses to meet with buyers to boost the region's conferencing and incentive markets.
Amanda Graham, the convention bureau manager at Hamilton & Waikato Convention Bureau, says the region is growing in this sector due to its large facilities and diverse activities.
‘It is great to see the region’s trade footprint growing – a reflection of the Waikato’s growing popularity as a business event and incentive destination.’

Graham says this year the new operators to Convene are Spoilt for Choice, FMG Waikato Stadium and Discover Waitomo. Distinction Hotel Hamilton will also exhibit with the region for the first time (last year it was part of the Distinction Hotels National stand).
‘We are very excited to be launching a new Hamilton & Waikato regional stand design and marketing campaign rebranding to Hamilton & Waikato Business Events,’ she adds.
Allyssa Eastaugh, events and business development manager of Convene, says Hamilton and Waikato’s large turnout is a ‘testament to the region’s collaborative spirit’.
‘Hamilton and Waikato have embraced the opportunity to fully engage with the Business Events sector and we have seen such positive results coming out of all their consistency of market engagement,’ says Eastaugh.
‘Convene continues to be acknowledged as a cornerstone tradeshow for the region; the growth in interest amongst the operators to take part is a testament to the regions tangible returns out of the show.’
