BUSINESS EVENTS LARGE AND SMALL PACK CITY’S BUSY CALENDAR [ AUCKL AND The international pipeline for 2023 onwards is building, including an increasing number of trans Tasman events as Australian associations choose to host their events alongside their New Zealand counterparts for the first time, points out Ken Pereira, manager – Auckland Convention Bureau. This includes the Massage & Myotherapy Australia National Conference which will be hosted in Auckland in 2023, the first time the event has been held outside Australia. Work continues on the new drawcard for the city, the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC), with the Federation of Asia Oceania Pest Management Associations (FAOPMA) booking the venue for its Pest Summit Conference in 2026. This will bring an estimated 2,500 delegates to the city. In the interim, two of Auckland’s largest meetings facilities have seen an extensive revamp. In the heart of central Auckland, The Aotea Centre recently completed a $67.5m four-year refurbishment, including Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland is welcoming large international conferences back to the city, including the 2035 Agri-Food-Tech Oceania Summit in October, the IWG World Conference on Women in Sport in November, and the 2022 Conference on Robot Learning (CoRL) in December.
