Max Lloydd, who handles marketing and sales for Manea Footprints of Kupe, says the attraction will offer customised and private tours for groups and will also be a new option for delegates pre and post their event. The normal visitor experience is 75 minutes in duration and weaves an interactive guided tour through the centre’s grounds led by Kupe’s descendants. The cultural engagement includes protocols, story telling, waiata (song), karakia (prayers) and a powhiri. A 20-minute 4D movie and live theatre performance bring to life Kupe’s epic journey of discovery and the dramatic return of his progenies. Visitors will be able to connect deeper with local stories at their leisure through the technology in the gallery area and will also be able to access the outdoor concourse space. Meantime Footprints Waipoua continues to run regular twilight and daytime tours. (The two Footprints products are closely associated but run separately.) Lloydd says custom made ‘unique to group’ tours are popular in the forest. Other options for groups are offered by Awesome Adventures Hokianga. Activities include guided hikes, cycling, kaimoana gathering, paddle boarding, kayaking, cooking classes, jetski safaris and more. The company caters for small or larger groups and is experienced in corporate team building. Artist impression of theatre Artist impression of sculptures meeting newz [september october] 2020 [15]
