This is particularly apt for many for us in the industry considering what has happened this year. The general consensus of people we have talked with is that they are looking forward to hosting some end of year events, finishing the year strong and then (duly earned) enjoying some down time. The new year will bring its challenges, but the good news is that in-person events are back and future bookings are strong, although staffing shortages and lack of event experience continues to be an issue. The industry looks forward to the opening of Takina, Wellington’s new convention centre situated in the heart of the city in June 2023 and providing another quality convention centre that will be ideal to host up to 1,600 delegates. Auckland will also welcome back two important venues for business events, Viaduct Events Centre and Auckland Showgrounds. The lack of large venues like these has put a strain on availability but it will be great to have them back again. In this edition of Meeting Newz we bring you the latest business events news and offerings from Palmerston North / Manawatu, Taranaki and we also take a look at sustainability in the business events sector. It's also time for our Company Profiles section and we have our regular People on the Move, Social Scene and Industry Update columns too. Finally from all of us at Tourism Media Group we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous new year. Enjoy a well-earned break and some quality time with family and friends over the summer. Put the coffee on and enjoy the read.
