CEDA chief executive Jerry Shearman says the development will significantly lift the region's ability to bid for and host events and conferences. “Our central location has held us in good stead over the years as a great destination for conferences and events, and this additional accommodation capacity is very welcome," he says. Shearman says recent workshops and engagement with stakeholders revealed the region's limited accommodation capacity was a significant issue for the sector. "We know the region and visitor industry will welcome this announcement. To secure this will significantly unlock our region's future opportunities in the events and visitor economy space.” The region has a diverse selection of dining options, from fine dining restaurants to casual eateries, bustling city cafes and awardwinning coffee roasters, vegan and organic dining options.
