[ AUSTRAL I A – I SL ANDS If 2024 is anything like 2023 then business on some of Australia’s Pacific Island paradises are in for a bumper year. The three big resort islands located in the Whitsundays region of Queensland – Hamilton, Hayman and Daydream – have had strong activity throughout the year and the expectation is that that is going to continue. Director of business event sales at Hamilton Island, Julie Ford, is anticipating another year of high occupancies although just now the company has noticed a dip in forward enquiries. She says this could be some nervousness over the economy and could just be a blip for the current month. “We had our biggest end of financial year results in five years, a part of which was boosted by some delayed Covid bookings,” she says. “Business has been mainly domestic, but we’ve also had three New Zealand groups and a group series from the United States which was delayed since Covid.” AUSTRALIAN ISLAND PARADISES SURGING AUSTRALIA’S ISLANDS RESORTS HAVE SEEN STRONG BUSINESS ACTIVITY THROUGHOUT 2023, WITH MORE ANTICIPATED IN 2024.
