Taking ownership of Meeting Newz is an exciting opportunity for Tourism Media Group to grow what it has achieved and bring new and innovative ideas to the magazine and website. We have a wonderful team and I’m looking forward to working with all our industry colleagues. Terry Holt Publisher My first paid jobs at age 12 selling newspapers in Kent (UK) and washing dishes in my aunt’s small hotel, combined with my fascination of geography, my father’s tales of travelling the world (he was Navy) and our year in New Zealand on secondment in the late 70s, sparked my passion for travel and telling stories. After arriving in New Zealand I started work at the Australian Tourist Commission (ATC) as information officer, where I first met and worked with Stu Freeman. In 1993 I joined Flag NZ as a sales rep, then headed back to the UK to work for Commonwealth Publishing Group, before returning to New Zealand where I have held sales and marketing and general manager roles with various hotels for the last 20 years. I left The Spencer on Byron Hotel in 2015 for a not-for-profit role as CEO of the Takapuna Beach Business Association. I have always admired Stu, Trish and the ProMag team for the work they have done, and still consider Stu my oldest industry friend. Knowledge and education will be a big focus for Meeting Newz moving forward. We want to understand the current drivers of global change and explore the trends that will impact the future of business events.  We want to explore technology and provide greater print and digital solutions. We want to embrace those new to our industry and cherish those that we have known for so long. Most importantly we want stories that are worth telling, news that is worth knowing and a future that’s worth sharing. Aleisha Moore Editor Pun lover, mediocre surfer, yoga addict and stereotypical travel enthusiast. I’ve just returned from a 16-month solo sojourn to ‘find myself’ on the hippie trails of Asia. Highlights of my trip were a 21-day trek through the Tibetan foothills of Nepal, getting my advanced diving licence in southern Thailand, surfing my way around Sri Lanka, completing my yoga teacher training in northern India, and volunteering at an animal rescue centre in south India. Prior to my trip I was lucky enough to be under the mentorship of Stu and Trish Freeman working across all of their trade publications and finding my journalistic voice. My role as editor covers all things written and digital, and you will find me out and about with camera in tow at events up and down the country as we strive to bring the most interesting, educational and empowering content to the New Zealand business events industry. Gary Covich Art Director In 2010, after 20 something (plus plus) years working as an art director and creative visualiser for ad agencies and film, I decided to leave the three-hour lunch breaks behind for a more glamorous role at ProMag Publishing with Stu and Trish Freeman. I have made the transition over to Tourism Media Group and will continue with Meeting Newz taking care of magazine production and fancy client ads. Paul Hailes Publisher Born and raised in Auckland, I am an avid sports fan and much to the chagrin of my friends an Auckland Blues supporter. I’ve been married to Gillian for 13 years and have two awesome kids Jacob 12 and Maddison 10. This industry has been a huge part of my life, from my days with the New Zealand Convention Association to working for the Freemans on the very first Convene Auckland (MEET Auckland as it was known in its first year). Stu and Trish should be applauded for the MEETING THE NEWZ TEAM Terry Aleisha Paul Gary [2] meeting newz [july august] 2018
