Mackay shines at PCOA conference

The North Queensland city of Mackay is once again attending the PCOA Conference as the sponsor of the free technology Charge Bar and to also bring news of a new inner-city venue and a sustainability initiative.

A previously forgotten service laneway in the heart of Mackay’s main dining precinct now provides a quirky offsite option for business event functions and partners programmes.  It features large-scale, colourful street art and murals, including a massive rainbow lorikeet and Ulysses butterfly. The artworks are enhanced by Augmented Reality technology which animates some of the artworks when viewed, courtesy of the city centre’s readily-available free Wi-Fi.

The award-winning Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre (MECC) has recently enhanced its environmental credentials with extensive solar installations now in place atop the entire Mackay Convention Centre Precinct rooftops. Located in a region with an abundance of sunshine, solar makes sense for Mackay.
