While the hotel won't offer any official meeting space, it will have direct access to the convention centre.
‘We look at ourselves as a strong partner to the convention centre, and as soon as we introduce meeting space we become a competitor,’ says Glen Erickson, general manager.
The hotel will boast a 100sqm gym, and while it won’t have a pool the gym promises to include more than the standard ‘exercise bike with a magazine rack’ that you find at some hotels.
‘Corporates want to keep up with their health and fitness. So our gym is for the guests who are into their CrossFits and F45s who don’t want to let up on their fitness routine while they are travelling. That health and wellness aspect that is core to Novotel brand,’ Erickson explains.
The hotel will have one cafe, one Italian-inspired restaurant and one bar.
‘We’ve made sure the exact same menu from the restaurant is available in the rooms. Often convention people are out all day networking and they come back and just want some privacy. Included breakfast doesn’t have to be in the cafe either. it’s about doing hotels a little bit differently in line with what guests want.’
The hotel is set for a March 16 opening.
