Meeting Newz, New Zealand’s leading authority on business events, is under new ownership from 1 June 2018. Tourism Media Group, headed by Terry Holt, Paul Hailes and Lance Blackbourn, have purchased the magazine, bi-weekly newsletter and associated website and social media platforms from ProMag Publishing. TMG, officially takes ownership on 1 June. Holt, Hailes and Blackbourn are also directors of Find A Venue.
ProMag Publishing directors Stu and Trish Freeman say the company will now concentrate on its leisure travel related media activities, including the TRAVELinc Memo, website and custom publications, as well as various special projects.
Stu Freeman says Meeting Newz passes into good hands with TMG’s directors all having strong backgrounds in the conference, incentives and meetings sectors. ‘After 30 years of being associated with Meeting Newz as either editor, publisher or owner (sometimes all three at once) it is time to pass on the baton. The new owners bring a fresh energy and new ideas while also applying the experience they have in the industry.’
Holt has been general manager of the Spencer on Byron Hotel and recently held the position of chief executive officer at Takapuna Beach Business Association. Hailes was a key member of the Convene Auckland (then known as Meet Auckland) launch team more than a decade ago and after that held a pivotal role with Conventions and Incentives New Zealand (including being sales manager of the organisation’s annual directory) before concentrating on his own business interests, including Find A Venue.
Holt says he and Hailes are looking forward to touching base with Meeting Newz advertisers and readers – starting with a presence at MEETINGS 2018. Freeman will be involved in a behind the scenes consulting role where necessary following the change of ownership. For more information contact Terry Holt ph 021 042 8232, Paul Hailes ph 021 217 3628.
