Anna Case, director of global business events, says the results highlight the strong appeal of the Gold Coast as a destination to motivate and inspire delegates.
'Incentive programmes need to offer a combination of business events infrastructure, experiences and accessibility. The Gold Coast rates highly in delivering this mix,' she says.
Case says the increase only represents incentives that Destination Gold Coast has had involvement in. 'We know there are many more groups selecting our city because of the strength of our destination to offer the ultimate reward.'
The good news looks set to continue with another record year for incentives predicted for the beachside city in 2018.
In May, the city will host one of China's largest personal healthcare companies, Infinitus China, for the largest business event ever secured for the Gold Coast. The programme is expected to attract around 7000 of the organisation's top qualifiers in four waves over 10 days.
