PCOA announces keynote

The Professional Conference Organisers Association (PCOA) 2018 conference has announced its opening keynote speaker.

Rohit Talwar, CEO of Fast Future, will headline the conference, which is being held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) on 9 - 11 December.

Talwar says he had no hesitation in accepting the PCOA18 invitation to keynote the event for a variety of reasons.

'Firstly, I think it is a very exciting time for the events industry in Australia and New Zealand. For example, foreign student numbers are up to record levels - a testimony to the quality of local educational talent - which is a key attractor for global industry events. Second, the pace of innovation in science and technology across the region is accelerating, and far from being on the edge of things, they are right at the centre of an explosion of new sectors and businesses. I also see a lot of innovation in the meetings sector coming from Australia and New Zealand and I was keen to tap into the latest thinking from local pace setters. Finally, I just love both countries and the incredible array of attractions on offer.'

Tourism New Zealand is sponsoring Talwar's presentation.

'I was delighted to have TNZ sponsor me because they are tremendous innovators with a passion to see the industry retain its relevance and impact by becoming ever-smarter, more vibrant, and constantly pushing the boundaries of the event experience.'

Talwar says his job in the opening keynote is to highlight the changes that could shape our world over the next five years and outline the size of the prize.

'There are untold opportunities for those who can become evermore forward thinking, agile, and innovative in the response to market volatility and global uncertainties and tensions. The meeting sector will also be driven to set the bar high in an era of hyper-growth companies and exponential thinkers who want to do business in a fundamentally different way to the past.

'The goal of my presentation on The Future of Meetings, Conferences, and Events is to push the edges of attendee thinking on three key aspects of the emerging future. Firstly, I want to explore how our world is changing and how disruption drives opportunity - every change that happens in the world drives people's desire to meet and discuss it. Secondly, I want to demystify key disruptive technologies shaping the future and highlight the opportunities arising from the next wave of trillion dollar industry sectors. Finally, I want to have the message resonate with everyone in the room that the future lies in their grasp and that they can create a positive path to the future in the midst of a fast changing and chaotic world.'
