South Canterbury on show

South Canterbury is now on show with the launch of a new guided tour company.

Explore South Canterbury, a subsidiary of Pleasant Point transport company Aitkinson and Dossett, has launched a new service with a guided agricultural tour, taking in some of the best scenery, experiences and food in the

district.

Henrietta Hazlett, industry partnerships manager for Aoraki Tourism says the tour gives a full farm to market experience for visitors, highlighting the region’s status as an ‘agricultural powerhouse’.

The tour takes in Pleasant Point, followed by a scenic drive to Geraldine where visitors will dine on locally sourced and produced cuisine at Verde.

From here it is a leisurely drive to a local working farm, where guests will experience working dogs in action and a woolshed demonstration, and hand feed a tame pet red deer and view the world’s largest white deer population.

To finish off the day, guests can take some friendly Alpaca for a stroll to the Rangitata River for a wee swim.

Tour pricing includes morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
