Heritage Queenstown awarded Enviro Gold |

Heritage Queenstown has been awarded a Qualmark Enviro Gold accreditation. The hotel is one of only a small number of hotels countrywide to have reached Qualmark's highest rating in sustainability. (Heritage Rotorua is already in this group). To earn this official tourism environmental award, Heritage Queenstown had to demonstrate an exemplary energy efficiency, waste management and water conservation regime along with a strong corporate responsibility policy. Contributing factors to Heritage Queenstown receiving the accreditation, was the creation of the hotel’s own worm farm for kitchen waste, operational benchmarking and efficiencies in power, gas and water consumption, a commitment to using environmentally friendly consumables and a rigorous recycling programme. The hotel has also been a New Zealand Tourism Awards recipient on more than one occasion including winner of the New Zealand Institute of Architects Southern Design Award 2008 for their purpose built Icon Conference Centre. The conference centre has a number of sustainability measures in its construction including high spec. insulation, water management and use of natural light.
