Expressions of interest sought for growing New Zealand's market share Print E-mail

The Ministry of Economic Development (MED) is interested in hearing a wide range of views about how to increase the number and size of business events that take place in New Zealand, including which elements of the current arrangements need to improve so New Zealand can be more competitive on the world stage.
Specifically MED is seeking views from interested parties on:
•  the development of a National Business Events Strategy
•  how the current network of convention venues can be strengthened
•  establishing a national convention and exhibition centre.
Hosting large scale business events has the potential to deliver considerable economic benefits to New Zealand but at the moment the country is missing out on these. People in the business events industry can contribute ideas by responding to the 'Expression of Interest for Growing New Zealand’s share of the international Business Events Market and Strengthening the National Network of Convention Venues' on www.gets.govt.nz or by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it to request a copy of the ‘Expression of Interest’ document. Responses close 5pm Friday, 18 June 2010.
