Craig Muller, client services director of
Uno Loco, says the industry is ‘feeling quite
buoyant as we move into 2016.’ He says a lot
of clients are understanding that they need
to allow better lead times, particularly to
secure good venues.
‘A real trend we are noticing is that digital
is becoming an integral part of a lot of
our events, from pre-event through to post
implementation reviews. The affordability of
this medium is now allowing our clients to
fit this into their budgets.’
Terri van Schooten, of Verve – The Event
Agency, says she is already seeing strong
demand for 2016, with new project enquiries
coming in weekly.
‘I think the biggest challenge for the
industry is increased demand on already
limited capacity. Venues are harder to secure
and price increases and tough contracts are
becoming the norm.
‘Our challenge will be to work with clients
to help them understand this increased
demand and that they need to be considering
budget increases and longer lead times.
‘Another issue, which we are seeing
across both the events and tourism sectors,
is quality cost-effective staff. Talent
recruitment and retention needs to be an
issue that is addressed industry wide.’
James Chatterley, of Event Dynamics,
says 2016 is looking ‘very, very busy’ across
the industry.
‘The conference trend is for more
interaction with delegates and a move away
from talking heads,’ he says.

Conference, incentive and event managers say 2016 is shaping
up to be a big year and that enquiries are coming in steadily.
