Meet in Australia
Belbin says the island is accessible by land,
sea and air and can be reached by a short
drive from Brisbane.
Some delegates choose to fly in and land
on the spectacular Seventy-Five Mile beach
and make tracks by four-wheel-drive to the
resort, while others have arrived by helicopter,
sail boat, catamaran or private charter,’
she says. ‘It’s this arrival, and the island’s
stunning World Heritage-listed surrounds,
that set the scene for a great event.’
Located on the western side of Fraser Island
in a natural sand amphitheatre, Kingfisher
Bay Resort (incorporating the Mercure Hotel,
villas, holiday houses and touring) has
created a specialist conference venue, which
compliments the island’s natural beauty and
uses the surrounds to full advantage.
Natural stimulation
The island’s natural phenomena, like
the mirror lakes, calm beaches and sub-
tropical wallum (an Australian ecosystem
of shrubland and heathland) help stimulate
ideas and creativity, according to Belbin.
We work closely with clients to custom-
design recreational and partner programmes
and group activities - using these natural
environmental elements to full effect.’
Delegates on the island can enjoy
canoeing, sailing, windsurfing, fishing
challenges and beach games, whilst resort
rangers guide 4WD eco-tours, nature walks
and marine cruises. This makes the island
an ideal backdrop for adventure-based team
building challenges, after which the resort’s
venue can be transformed for a banquet
under the stars.
The traditional meetings industry is well
served in the newly refurbished conference
centre, featuring the latest digital AV
The resort’s three-way-dividable ballroom
seats 300 people theatre-style, 200 people
for a banquet while three smaller meeting
rooms cater for training programmes or
syndicate work and shaded verandas make
for additional break-out areas. Facilities also
include four swimming pools, heated spa,
and a natural therapy and beauty clinic.
